I had the pleasure of checking out the Sketchbot Custom Show at myplasticheart this last Friday night during my short trip to New York to take care of some business. Really impressed with everyone in the show's work. Mine showed up a day late (thanks USPS!), but at least he made it. He's my little tribute to 4 color process printing.
You can check out (and purchase) the customs over at myplasticheart.com.
A few of my amazingly talented friends are in this show on Saturday, March 27th at Giant Robot NY. The pieces are all under 5" x 5" so it should be interesting (and easy on your paystub). I'll actually be back in NY for a few hours and I'm pretty happy that I get to attend the opening and see some folks.
Nice little video from Subliminal Projects showing the Andres Guerrero and Albert Reyes show from early February. Andres needs to slow down, my whole blog has been about him lately. Congrats homie!!!
New Works by Andres Guerrero and Albert Reyes features a pair of artists and longtime friends whose contrasting bodies of work show both ends of the contemplation spectrum. On the introspective side lies Guerrero, who describes his skull imagery as "symbolic self-portrait representation... a descriptive means of living through death." Reyes, on the other hand, blends his own experience into the contextual spheres of pop culture, politics, religion and life in L.A. "My view of the world is from L.A.," says Reyes. "My view is through the L.A. media, taking in the culture, the people, the vastness of L.A. No one can escape the Hollywood impact."
